Prenatal and postpartum care, start to finish.
From a positive test to the six-week check and your baby's first immunizations, we look after both of you — with one record, one clinic and a physician who knows your history.
During pregnancy
Prenatal visits are usually monthly to about 28 weeks, every two weeks to 36 weeks, then weekly until delivery. Each visit covers blood pressure, weight, growth, fetal heartbeat and how you are feeling — physically and emotionally.
We arrange the standard Ontario prenatal bloodwork, dating and anatomy ultrasounds, genetic screening if you want it, gestational diabetes testing, and referral to an obstetrician or midwife for delivery.
After the birth
- Postpartum check for healing, bleeding, pain and recovery
- Breastfeeding and feeding support, including latch concerns
- Screening for postpartum depression and anxiety, with real follow-up
- Contraception planning, including IUD insertion after delivery
- Newborn weight checks, jaundice monitoring and immunizations
Care for the baby too
Your newborn can be enrolled with the same family physician, so well-baby visits, the Ontario immunization schedule and any worries in between are handled in the clinic you already know.
Frequently asked questions.
Is prenatal care covered by OHIP?
Yes. Prenatal and postpartum visits, standard bloodwork and ultrasounds are insured with a valid Ontario health card.
Will my family doctor deliver my baby?
Delivery is arranged with an obstetrician or midwife. We provide prenatal care, coordinate the referral, and resume your care after the birth.
When should I book my first prenatal visit?
As soon as you know you are pregnant, ideally before eight weeks, so early bloodwork and dating ultrasound can be arranged on time.
